Change is the only constant

It is with great regret that the Arcata Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announces that Molly Steele has stepped down as Executive Director as of May 1. The good news is that Molly will be joining our business community to pursue her passion as a bookkeeper with Arcata Chamber member Katherine Almy’s Solutions for Small Businesses.

Molly helped steer our business community through COVID and served as a calming presence during the many challenges we overcame. During her tenure, the Arcata Chamber developed three strategic initiatives which build mentorship programs with our high schools, connect with Arcata’s neighborhoods on local solutions, and create closer partnerships with Cal Poly Humboldt, College of the Redwoods and equity arcata, as we ready our economy for new growth.

The Chamber creates workshops, programs, and events to find ways to inform, connect, collaborate and support our small businesses throughout the year. Molly has been the face, the voice and the unflappable host to what we do. Her value to our community during the past two years as our Executive Director (totaling six years with the Arcata Chamber) is often overlooked as she and the staff furiously juggled behind the scenes to keep us all connected.

As we begin our search for a new Executive Director, the entire Board of Directors would like to sincerely thank Molly Steele for her stellar service, and her commitment to community connections and equity, and we look forward to future collaborations!
